Small lakes only and do you think a 15hp 4 stroke will get me up on plain. I'm looking at an Alumacraft MV 1448 it weighs 285lbs.
I think a 15 horse will be more than enough for it to plain out.. How much weight will be in it? My aluminum 14 foot boat with a 9.9 is great for 2 people to go out in. By myself it will move right along pretty darn quickly. It can be scary when I am shooting out around the point only to hit the wind head on.. But, most the lakes I am in up here are big lakes.. The wind can get pretty nasty from one side of the lake to the other.
That is what I like about my fiberglass 14 footer.. It is a heavey boat and will take that stuff on pretty darn well. But I also steer it with a console and have a much bigger motor on that one..
