I went to give it a try this morning again. I was messed up by getting called in last night to help keep the machine running. That caused me to be running late this morning. I finally got myself heading out by 6 ( hunting starts here @ 20 minutes to 5 ) and I see an old man walking. I stopped and asked if everything was ok. This guy I learned threw our conversations is 77 years old.

He then informed me that he and his wife spent the night in a side road stuck in the mud. He had just gotten out of the hospital 2 days earlier and his wife is a diabetic and needs her insulin. She also had fallen when they both got out to walk and hurt her back and hip.

He asked if I had a cell phone to call a warden with. I had asked him about calling 911 but, he thought that would not be needed. This guy had walked 45 minutes just to get to the road I travel on. While I had my cell phone I did not know the wardens phone number. So I called a friend who happened to have it. I got a hold of the warden and he came up and talked with us and asked if I could stay there with this guy who I already had in my truck so he could keep warm. He stated he wanted to check on the guys wife. He also stated another warden was on the way. He had to come in from route 9 which took him about an hours drive. He finally got there and stated that threw the radio conversations his wife was going to be ok. So he picked up the old fellow and took him in with him. He thanked me for helping the old fellow out and shook my hand as well as wished me good luck with the turkeys.

I finally am on my way in to my blind! I get there and set up my decoys. I call a few times and just wait. By now there is a lite rain coming down so I just sat in my blind and waited. I called a few times and nothing answered. As I was getting ready to leave a hen shows up. But the tom is no where to be seen. So I know the hen is staying there and I hope the tom shows back up. Sorry guys but this is not going as planned. Hopefully things will be changing this coming week!

Good Luck to every one still out there hunting!
