Just so we don't give you the wrong answer or something that is confusing.. could you tell us the kind of rifle you purchased, the kind of projectiles you intend to shoot, and the kind of powder you are going to shoot. I think with that information, the forum can better answer your questions or address any concerns about the rifle you might have.

I also suggest to new shooters... read your owners manual. There is a wealth of information about your rifle and what you can expect it to do. If you have no manual, go to the manufacturer's respective web sites. They are usually free to a down load.

Also in the top of this forum are a number of topics that if you read them... there are a few pages of them... but they can and do address many things you will encounter or perhaps have questions about.

But lets start with the kind of rifle and powder you want to shoot.. also the kind of ignition system it has, be it 209 primers, musket cap, or #11 cap. I think we can then get you started in the right direction.
