You really need to find a hunting buddy if you are a new hunter that wants to hunt wilderness areas. That will make this venture much better, safer, and vastly more easy. Two guys can pack in, set up camp, and pull a deboned elk out a long way if they are in good shape. Backpackers can get into some deer country that the pony soldiers have to avoid. Early in the season you might find some adventure in the Weminuche.
