Another vote for the Bushnell Elite 6500 4.5-30x50mm. For the price point, it's hard to buy a Bushnell over a Leupold, but for a high caliber hunting rifle with a lot of powder behind it, that range of magnification is tops. Pull in to 20yrds just as easily as zoom out to 1000yrds. Mine isn't mounted right now, but it lived on my .300WSM for a while, very versatile riflescope.
Yep, I have one on my 280, I absolutely love it. A very versatile scope, hard to beat for the money. Got a low enough bottom end for a hunting scope and on the top end has plenty of power for a target scope.
