Serial numbers over 566,000 are dated by the Lever Boss Code...as your SN is lower than 566,000 it is dated correspondingly....as made in 1941...and the appearance of the rifle supports that.
Thank you very much!! Yes it has been drilled and tapped. There was a question before that asked i believe if it had a steel butt pad on it and it does have it. I always wanted one since i seen charlie bronson in death hunt. I really had not much knowledge of this gun otherwise when i bought it. I loved the feel of it and how comfortable it was. My uncle also bought 2 savage 99's off the same guy i bought mine from. If i can get some pics would you guys give me some info on his? I know one is a 300 sav. like mine but with a beefier stock and the other a .30-.30
