First things first. Do a soil test (from a real lab, not a kit). Find out how much acreage you want to plant. Then find out how much lime and fertilizer you need, and decide if you want to spend the money. A few tons of bulk lime will cost you a couple hundred bucks, so will one pallet of bagged lime. Then you will likely need a couple hundred in fertilizer and maybe $100 of seed. Start now to get ready for a fall plot.

From there, you can evaluate what your particular herd is missing and give it to them, or just make it a fall attraction plot. Figure out what you want out of it.
