My favorite is my older (1998) Savage model 110 chambered in .308 (back in the late 90's Savage was not doing well, and was trying desperately to avoid bankruptcy). Back then Savage made *everything* as a model 110. .243, .25-06, .270, .308, .30-06, etc... They all shared the same wooden stock configuration. Savage just redid the chamber and barrel. For short actions, they just put a big "block" or some sort down in behind the magazine.
Anyway, my rifle just fits me like a glove. It is lethally accurate, doesn't kick as bad as a .30-06, and will still drop a deer right in its tracks.
