It never hurts to hunt a scrape line if you know nothing else about the habits of your deer, at least you know they' ve been there. One thing you might check out though, is your scrape " line" actually travelling the same direction as the deer are...sometimes deer will leave a watering hole or other commonly used area in different ways everyday, and they' ll scrape things on their way out...picture it like your open hand, the palm is the watering hole, your fingers are the paths they take, and the tips of your fingers are the scrapes, it looks like he' s skirting the watering hole, but in fact he' s travelling perpendicular to the scrape line.

If that doesn' t seem the case, if all you know about what your deer are doing is the scrape line, that' s better than going out somewhere where there are no signs at all. Bucks usually scrape places they want to claim, so if they claimed this area, they use it a bit, maybe at night, but you don' t know that obviously...preseason scouting would have helped a bit, actually seeing deer is always a good sign of deer being in the area, but it' s a little late now.
