RE: 100 lb. pull Bowtech Samson. WOW!
My last two bows both made in excess of 85 lbs of energy and I only hunt whitetails with them. The more KE the more you can crowd the shoulder and avoid paunch hits. I am not a big guy (6' 2" ,220 lbs) but had no problem working up to 80lbs. The problem for most people is they don' t use their " bow drawing" muscles for much other than drawing a bow. I shoot my bow just about year round and I waterski all summer. Waterskiing works the same muscles used to draw a bow. Proving this fact are the friends of mine that are bigger than me that can' t draw my bow.
Granted, all that KE usually ends up in the ground past the deer but if you hit bone penetration is still excellent. One other benefit is that my current setup will be effective for any animal on this continent. Cold days are tough though and it is a good idea to draw your bow hourly to keep loose.
