What's your budget? $300 or $500, or??

Best bang for the buck out there in my opinion is Tikka and Savage...for a few more bucks one can go to a Browning A-Bolt...

I have several new savages and I agree with others, spend the extra $100 now and get one with the accu-trigger...I really like my Model 10 in .308 (a little more $$) but my Model 11 in 7mm-08 could probably be had new for $400 easily, accu-trigger, detachable mag, light, accurate and shoots nicely...for another $100 though you can get the Tikka T-3 in stainless...bolt as smooth as butter, trigger breaks like glass (adjustable), shoots very well (sub-MOA), detachable mag....I think I paid about $525 for mine but it's left handed and a magnum cal, so the right handed standard cal's should be easy to find well below that...

Most importantly...find a rifle that fits you and feels good against your shoulder...
