I also believe that you really do get what you pay for at least 80 or 90% of the time.

workmanship, seen or unseen...... costs,
pretty......................................... costs,
quality control..............................costs!
" Pretty" , I can do without! The other two factors are what counts! Thats where the Savages and Winchesters shine! Quality and nice prices! If you want and can afford more, there is nothing wrong with that either.
On the other hand, you have some companies that mix in just enough " pretty" , skimp on the workmanship and quality control, and you end up with cheap, " pot luck!" You may get lucky and get the rare cheap jewel, that lasts a lifetime! Most of the time you' ll get something that will breakdown and disapoint you, usually at the most inopportune time!
Savage, Winchester, and the Rem. 700' s will do what they are made to do! At a reasonable price.
In scopes, a good 200.00 Leupold will give you a lifetime of good use! (Just don' t compare it to a 1000.00 scope!)
Then you could buy one, 100.00 Trashco, get lucky and never look back! Odds are though, you' ll end up buying five, 100.00 cheapo' s and end up missing hard earned shots at game, when you coulda had a good Luey for way less in the first place!
