I got a Savage Model 11 Lightweight Hunter in a 308, it is a really nice gun, shoots extremely well. It weights just 5.5lbs and comes in various calbers, both long and short action. When I bought mine I wanted one in a 260 but they only had a 30-06, 270, and a 308 in stock. I didnt want to wait so I bought the 308. I couldnt be any happier. I topped with a Leupold Ultralight 3-9X, it is a pleasure to carry.

If you look arround you can get the Lightweight Hunter for $700-$800, I believe mine was just a little under $800 out the door.
