If I were you, I would forego the range finder for now and put the estra $$$ into a bino upgrade. Unless you are shooting long distances ... by that I mean 300 + yards ... about any typical deer "deer rifle" (243 Win., 30.06 Spr, 308 Win., 7mm/08 Rem, 7mm Rem. Mag., etc.) can be sighted in so that very little elevation adjustment is necessary to manage from "point blank" to 300 or so yards. Most scope reticules can be used to roughly judge the distance to the game.

I have a Swarovski rangefinder that I lucked into for a fraction of MSRP at a silent auction. It incorporates a high quality 30 mm "monocular". While it can serve as "bino", for me it is just not good enough for much more than a short, quick look at game that I can see well with my naked eyes.
