Hogs can have two litters per year under ideal conditions. That seldom happens here in OK. In 2007 we had a bumper crop of pecans and acorns: That year many sows had two litters.

i hope the state of NY is really serious about eliminating wild hogs. If they are not totally dedicated, hogs will over run NY. Hogs thrive on acorns and there are lots of acorns in NY state.

OK has steadfastly refused to go after hogs. We are not allowed to hunt wild hogs in the WMAs using center fire rifles outside of deer season. Then the OK wildlife people hire helicopters at $3,000-$5,000 per hour to shoot hogs.

We are not allowed to hunt hogs at night with a light. Landowners are permitted to hunt hogs at night using a light with permission of a game warden. i was turned down because no crops are raised on my property.

Our hog trapping has made a difference on one of my places and on the section owned by a friend. The deer are coming back to the game plots. Many of the remaining hogs are trap shy and will have to be shot.
Thank's for the info falcon
I live in an Agriculteral area, lots of farming around here and we have a ton of red oaks. I have yet to see a hog but Im sure eventually I will. Coyotes have been our biggest problem against our deer herd, we can hunt them from Oct 1st thru March 31st day or night with a light and as many as we please with no furberarer tags needed. Im sure if hogs get thta bad we'll be able to do the same. It looks like they can really do some serious damage, heck they let us get crop damage and nusiance tags for deer and they can be hunted at night with a soptlight so if we get over run with hogs Im sure they'll allow us to take em down.
How good are they to eat? They look like a stinky nasty critter.
