in CT is good, you get 3 1/2 months and 4 tags, most state land varies in pressure though there's places I have to myself and others that you can't park ? u really need to get out and scout and talk to locals. I'd start first by looking at states that have archery before any other seasons most important then cost of tags hotels travel how much time do you have what states are you considering or is travel not an option. basically like anywhere else unless your hunting a fenced in area you gotta pick a place, get out and scout there's deer in every state land spot it's just a matter of numbers in herds which you can get from Dept of enviormental protection. also check out harvest numbers hunters ect and go from, and target local places to ask specific questions about. unless you have an exact area that's a tough question to answer
its not a matter of what state is better, its how good a hunter is and how much scouting you do that will predict your success
just remember "the more popular places" = More People
Hope this helped
