Just bought a savage 99 today in 300 savage. My uncle also bought a 99 in 300 sav. And what we believe is an older savage lever action in 30-30. All guns are in great shape with weaver rings on all them. The one 300 savage has a small crack or seam in the grip, seems like its been there for a while. Picked the three of them up for $975. Does anyone know how to tell how old they are by checking the #'s?? I'm wondering what the years are on them. Thank you for your time
