Default Heads up for out of state hunters

How do you find out if there is a health problem with the deer in the out of state, area, or even county where you are going to hunt in several months.

I am not going out of state so I never thought of checking a particular state, the last couple of years. But I did today, just for information.

I did a check on EHD, a disease that wipes out deer herds. I checked two states where I don't live. I keyed in -EHD-Missouri and EHD-Pennsylvania, for separate checks. The internet will give any information that has info on these terms searched. You can get more specific info by keying in -EHD-Missouri-2012. Just substitute the state where you are headed.

Both states have EHD in their state in 2012, so the out of state hunter could have gotten an early look, instead of waiting until he gets there. Better to learn early and not after you drive hundreds of miles. If you're hunting public land, you might get a heads up to switch to another area of the state.
