TC Encore
Today I decided that since I have been trying to get my range built, that I would give it a try. I needed to shoot, plus i wanted to try some different loads or rather bullets. I also was curious if the new barrel that TC sent me was going to be as good as the one that I ruined last year by inadvertently shooting my ramrod threw a deer at a mere 20 yards. This barrel was actually the endeavor barrel with the XT speed breech. I prepared for a day of shooting and cleaning as usual. I had my windex patches to swab between shots. I zeroed the rifle with 2 shots at 26 yards by my range finder after bore sighting. I moved my target to what I thought was fifty when I built the range, but my range finder said 48 yards 3 times so it is 48 yards. the first shot hit about 1 1/2" high and 1" to the right. the secound was about a 1/2" high and 1" to the right. I swabed with windex patches between shots. I was shooting 120 gr of Pyrodex RS and the 240 gr XTP and the supplied sabot. With my other barrel I shot the 300 gr SST and the supplied sabot with 120 gr of pyrodex RS. That was a good load for me but my reconstructive surgery on my right shoulder is not partial to the recoil. Thats why I had decided to try the 240 gr XTP and besides I have several boxes since they were marked down at rural king. I fired the 3rd shot touching the first one. This load appears to have some potential. I have several nikon scopes laying around but I chose to put a little cheaper scope on my encore. the scope on my rifle is a AR rifle scope from SightX, its a 3x9x42 and has tactical turrents and is a very short scope with remarkable light gathering capability. I am going to try some longer shots; however, most of my shots are 50 yds or less. This is actually one of two range reports from today. At the time I started it was 49*F, 88% humidity and the wind was WSW @ 5mph which is blowing from left to right at my range.
