I started deer hunting with a model 99 in .300. My dad has the .250 and the .300. .250 is his primary deer gun so i used his .300 until i got my own 30-06. He'll still grab the .300 with iron sights for hunting thick brush, but man that .250 will put a deer down in its tracks! Definitely a reliable gun and classic lever style that can't be beat.
