Welcome,
First step would be to get your hunters ed certification.
Wealth of info covered in the course I won't go into here.
If you have 0 interest in bigger game, although that interest may come later,
I would recomend checking regs for minimum poundage for small game, most states its 35# min for turkey/deer.
Some states have no min for small game like rabbits.
I would get a low poundage bow recurve for rabbits,
Easy to carry while hiking, quick to draw and shoot.
I use 2 bows, compound for turkey and big game, and a 25# recurve for rabbits and such.
Price of bow will vary, quality will cost you.
If there is a range by you, many have used bows for sale, some will let rent you for a fee to use a bow at the range, some will let you try the bow.
Recomend spending some time at a range and checking out the bows.
