I have mixed feelings about coatings on barrels.
I only have one with the coating and that is my .504 White Bison. It was coated with black ice when I bought it. I like it but I cannot see myself ever coating one of my Stainless rifles or even my blued ones unless the bluing really got to the point where it was looking bad.
I don't think the black ice coating would ever chip off but I have seen where it has worn off over time, like in the breech area where you do a lot of scrubbing.
I like the non glare finish of the black ice and it does seem like the fouling wipes off of it really easy.
