If your daughter hasn't shot before a 22 is a good way to start. No recoil, cheap to practice. If you mean for deer hunting then the 243 is a good choice. Susanna shoots a 223 for prairie dogs and she has shot a 243 but I'm trying to get all my kids to hunt with a muzzleloader, so thats what they are using for deer . Good luck ,I hope she becomes a regulat little hunter.
