You said there was still standing corn---would it be possible to use a blind (either pop-up or naturally built) that would allow you more options?? I haven' t seen your area, but it sounds as if tree hunting that spot has very limited possibilities.

And don' t worry, anyone that has bowhunted more than 1 year has had that happen at least once. Hopefully you learned something, that' s all you can do. I will suggest though, that in the future with a deer that close it may be better to draw and shoot all in one motion, because by the time you' re detected the arrow is in his side.
