Default RE: I JUST BOUGHT MY FIRST BOW AND HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS

Welcome to the ranks!

Your first bow, so you are new to bow shooting as well? It is all about form and tuning. I' d get the bow tuned as best as they can at the shop and practice shooting for a while. It is hard, but try not to worry about tight groups and perfect shot placement just yet. Just shoot. Get the muscles into the groove and develop good habits. Then fine tune things after you have a system for shooting down. Hand shock is always going to be a problem with today' s shorter and faster bows and their lighter arrows. (although yours are certainly not light) A stabilizer is a must. Just like matched arrows. There are a lot of good videos and books on the art of shooting. Is there an archery club near by?

Remember that just because you bought your bow at a shop doesn' t mean they know what they are doing in setting you and the bow up. ( I' ve had some shopkeepers do more harm than good.) Find a local expert. They are hard to find, harder to get time with but they are out there. We have these two guys near my home who tuned me and my bow in under five minutes after an assessment of my shooting style and ability.
