Each CVA plug has to have the nose of the breech plug molded to the rifle. So when you get a new one you screw the bp in until it stops then with the wrench tighten it in place. The last thread or two forms the soft metal nose of the plug to that rifle and only that rifle for a true fit. After that the wrench is not required.

You do need to be careful with the plug and protect the nose from getting dinged, if it gets dented or dinged it could begin leaking.
