Sounds like a kit gun because of the letter K. And as for age, well I purchased a Renegade in 79 and it too was a kit. The serial number is K 5***. But the first number is 5 so your serial would indicate its smaller then mine. I am not sure what the L is for. The K in my number is the first number and there is no L.
