A member here killed a big ol bull with a 250gr SST last year. I guess it's second hand knowledge though even though he posted pics of it on 3 other forums. I doubt he lied.
I just cannot believe nobody recommended the 300gr Aerolite? LOL
Not trying to be counter productive but the answer to that question can be clouded... There are so many circumstances that can play into the equation, especially with elk - it is really not that simple of an answer. Many different things may play into the situation, just to mention a few that I might consider, such as mud (dried or wet), size, sex, age, rut, angle and difficulty of the shot, even location of the animal or the state of alarm the animal might be in, not to mention range....
but, if you are talking about the condiditons being close to right - then sure no sweat if you do your part.
