I wonder how many shots it would take to down an elk with a .458 300gr Barnes Socom at 1900-2000fps? I never heard of an elk being shot with one so I guess it probably would not even penetrate the hide. Ron has video footage of it's destruction somewhere.

A member here killed a big ol bull with a 250gr SST last year. I guess it's second hand knowledge though even though he posted pics of it on 3 other forums. I doubt he lied.

I just cannot believe nobody recommended the 300gr Aerolite? LOL
