Ideal moose gun is 35 Whelen? I don' t think so Vapordog. Shots can be very long. And you rarely get a pass thru even with a 300RUM from 250 yards. Moose seem to have uncanny smell compared to a whitetail. I was 150 yards away from this cow and as soon as we topped the mountain, she got wind of us from that far. Enen though it wasn' t blowing directly in her face. The wind howls so bad in Newfoundland, that she didn' t hear us.

Believe it or not, my guide hunts with a 243Win 7600 pump. He always gets his moose. He just shoots under 300 yards and waits for it to die. As he said, we got all day.
