i've seen guys field dress wild hogs with cuts on their hands and arms and no gloves; thats asking for trouble. Wear good thick gloves while skinning and field dressing hogs, not the cheap thin things. Do not let hog blood or offal get splashed in the eyes. Hogs also carry a plethora of other diseases including pseudorabies and tularemia.

Many years ago an Army friend came down with trichinosis; it was a serious ordeal for him. It also got Harry disinherited by very rich Orthodox Jewish grand parents.
