I have a 270 WSM (Tikka T-3 Stainless Lite) and a 25 WSSM (Browning A-Bolt medallion)...love them both. They are both tack drivers and are easy on the shoulder (my 270 WSM kicks noticeably less than Rem 700 in 270). I like the shorter actions for quicker bolt cycle times and they are a little lighter.

I also own a 300 WM in a pre-64 Winchester Model 70 (was my grandfathers)...shoots like a top...accurate as hell...a little more rough on the shoulders and a bit heavier to pack in the woods.

I also have a Rem 700 in 7mm Mag...it kicks like a mule and has been a safe queen for several years...it's just not enjoyable to shoot. Never even bothered packing it in the woods.

I have several friends that are part of my annual Eastern Oregon Elk hunt that shoot 300 WSM's religiously (for elk and deer) and love them. All the benefits of a 300 WM, lighter, shorter action, less recoil...

I for one can say as a re-loader, there are benefits to the WSM's.
