Well next time, if you're there first, try to get a table to the far left. Then casings won't hit you. If you can't do that and someone comes to your left with a semi auto, ask if he wouldn't mind moving to a table to your right or switching tables with you or at least put up a deflector.
If he doesn't do either of these then he/she is a complete A$$hole and I would not just toss the brass back on his table but I would throw it directly at him. If he says anything tell him next time you will heat it up with your lighter and have it hit him when it was hot like it hit you. Then maybe he will get the hint.
Some people are just jerks and need to be treated as such.
