First off all expenses for any trip should be split in equal parts = 5 guys pay 1/5th of the cost associated with the hunt. If taking 2 trucks with 3 in one and 2 in the other, doesn' t matter..it should be totalled and split evenly. As far as vehicles go if possible try and alternate who' s truck you take, this spreads the wear and tear evenly over time. If always taking your vehicle or certain vehicles then it should and would be appropriate to split the cost of oil change, wash, etc. Gear is a tough one, you have already bought it and will use it, so I think it is pretty hard to ask others to pay for use of it. However if things are required to be replaced or bought this should be allocated to the others or at very least split between the other 4 guys. A simple sit down should suffice to explain your investment and their lack of, f they refuse then they go on their own expense. Personal items such as: sleeping bags, bedding, clothes, packs, tags, etc should be each hunters responsibilty end of discussion. If they want to use your stuff then asking for compenstation or similar is acceptable.

I agree when planning a trip it is essential that everybody is on the same page, knows their responsibilities and will share in both work/costs associated with the trip. Simply if the answer is no, then that should be your reply to them. Free loaders will never cough up more money and some will never offer, so one must ask. I have a rule if I have to ask the second time, then forget a return invite. I can be a pr%^# too, I choose to try and not too. I have learned for every bad hunting buddy their is a good one waiting to be invited and will gladly put forth what needs to be done. In the end you' ll build a solid group who know the score and don' t have to be hounded to anti up.
