Got this in an email today, supposed to be the biggest grizzly ever taken with a muzzleloader.
Steve West
Attached is a photo of the grizzly I shot in coastal British Columbia on June 1st... while I am still in British Columbia hunting black bears and finishing production on site we had internet service and wanted to get this sent out to everyone. As many of you knew I booked and planned this hunt to specifically go after the muzzleloader world record. I had the right guide, right area, and as it turns out - we found the right bear.
I shot the bear with one of our outfitters using the CVA Accura V2 muzzleloader, topped with the Burris Fast Fire sight and using 405 grain Powerbelt Bullets. The 150 grains of IMR White Hots pushed the load out and dropped the big bear with a single shot at 50 yards. The film is extremely solid... it green scored 26 2/16" B&C and easily eclipses the old muzzleloader world record (23 2/16" B&C) by three inches.
We will get the bear to a certified B&C scorer on August 1st for an official score and send it off for panel scoring if required. Given the massive spread between the size of this bear and the current record, we are all certain that this bear will be declared the new muzzleloader world record in the very near future.
Thank you to all of our sponsors and the Outdoor Channel for helping make this a reality!
