IMHO, you should go to a pro shop that has a shooting range and shoot some. They will be able to correctly fit you and you can find what feels best for you. If you don' t like what they have or the vibe...go to another one.

Be up front and tell them your looking at inexpensive ones to start with that way you set the rules about them trying to shove something you dont need down your throat. Keep in mind that an Ol recurve bow will kill a deer, so you don' t HAVE to have the best of the best just what feels good to you. Since your tall too, you want to make sure that bow fits you.

Personally I have had two PSE bows and have been happy with them. The one I hunt with now is probably 10 years old and still kills them dead. lol I am sure almost anything you get will be better overall tech wise then my 10 yr old PSE.
I have friends that have Dartons, Mathews (well liked), Bowtechs, Alpines...etc etc.

You might want to mention that you want something that you could upgrade later... like lighter/better arrows, better sights, etc etc. I went through several different sights before i found one i liked anyway. Heavier/cheaper arrows might be better to start with instead of flinging the fragil expensive ones. ??
