For those that don't know, North Carolina went decades with no legal turkey season...I grew up hearing my dad talk about hunting them in the '30s...About 10 years ago turkey hunting became legal in most of the state and I have been lucky enough to have success almost every year since...

My hunting buddy and I spent the first week in our hunting cabin down east...We ended up calling in 9 birds but we let all but 2 walk as we didn't want to use all our tags too soon...I also had a black bear come by two mornings in a row...I killed my bird on Wednesday, he had an 11 inch beard...



My buddy's bird was killed Monday, he had a 10 inch beard...




Anyone else love calling in these beautiful birds???
