You better go back to the drawing board with that statement fritz1. There are a number of states that don't allow ANY centerfire rifles for any type of hunting, some that allow them only for certain animals, and some that only allow them in certain areas of their state. Michigan, for instance, does not allow a centerfire rifle to be used for deer in the zone 3 southern part of the state, but they can be used at other times for varmints.
True, but they are not illeagle because of caliber restrictions, like you said, where it is illeagle, all other centerfires are illeagle also. Any state or area that is leagle to hunt with a centerfire rifle is leagle to do so with a 243, regaurdless of the animal. It is totally leagle here in the state of Idaho to use any centerfire 22 or larger to shoot big game, which includes elk, bear, moose or any big game animal. Some states, such as Florida all 22's centerfire or not are illeagle .
