Well it looks like 39.0078 is the score I guess I didn't help much but what can I say. I believe that is right with no spurs it didn't score well at all.
For the story it went down like this. I found out Sat. morning where I set the blind up was about 300 feet from there roost tree's. So this morning I walked in far enough to watch the tree's and waited for them to fly down. I know that they go to water which is away from where I set up the blind so I got to the blind and got decoys set up and settled in the blind. I started to call and the hens started to talk back. Everytime I called they (hens) started talked like no other. It sounded like a chicken yard down there. Any way I knew they would be coming soon or later. Sure enough here comes 4 hens and this tom. The rest is history. This roost tree has only toms in it the last 2 days. Is that a common thing that the tom's are by themselves??? There was 10 both days and no hens to be seen. I hens start talking and then with in 10 min. or so the tom's start to fly down. These toms never sounded off once in fly down or in the roost. I heard 3 gobbles from differant birds in differant areas. I was watching these with bino's and never once did they gobble.
SB I just set it up tight to the sage and the wind was out of the north and it stayed there fine. I always hunt alone and have done this a lot. They just seem to fall open in the fan shape any way.
Lars this bird had no spurs what so ever. And yes I have taken birds here in rocky country that the spurs where just nubs and maybe an 1/8 inch long at best. they wear them right off. Those mountain turkeys are a hard bird to hunt. Very very smart in my opionon.
