While I have not hunted that many years last year I got a decent tom and then a jake during our last week of the season.. My hunting has been around all this tall grass, at least most of it anyways. I trave a dirt road that brings me out on a field that runs for 63 straight miles. My end of the field has to many other hunters and when calling last year a couple of other hunters saw the toms I was calling and tried to call them right straight across from. I passed the toms as safety is a must for me. I then moved out where few hunters were. enough said on that one..
Now what I have read today in a mag was that when setting up near a hill to set up roughly 3/4s of they way up the hill.. This is so that you are blended into the hill for turkeys that may come up the hill. Also so that any turkeys that are coming across the hill (or down the hill) will be high lighted from the field. Thus given you a view of them as they are coming down the hill.
