I have a Mossberg 535 turkey gun with the same setup as yours. I use 3 1/2 shells. And have killed birds with it out to almost 70 yards, mine patterns very good with number 5 Federal Flight control loads and for 10 shells they are less then 20 dollars and i have never had a bird that has ever needed a second shot with this combination.
