I have been thinking a lot about what my next black powder purchase will be. I have narrowed my choices down to three.
1-A new Green Mountain barrel for the first black powder rifle I ever owned. I was thinking about a 32" .54 caliber 1:70" twist for the old Hawkins. The original .50 caliber barrel still gets it done but I would like to breath some new life into it.
2-A new Green Mountain barrel for my $30.00 Renegade. Since I can put a .54 caliber barrel on the Hawkins but not a .58 caliber barrel, I would be looking to outfit the Renegade with a 32" .58 caliber 1:70" twist barrel.
3-A Thompson Center .58 caliber Big Boar rifle.
I don't even know if the third choice is still available but I will be checking that out in the near future. If it is still available and I can get it for a good price that may be the route I will be taking. In any case I will be pulling the trigger on one of these choices very soon.
