I have 2 BLR's. One in 308 Win. and the other in 358 Win. Both are older rifles. I know off no down side of the BLR design other than a rather poor trigger. One might question the value when compared to the Marlin 336 and Wincherster 94 designs. However the clip feed allows for a much wider range of cartridges. My two have porven to be very accurate. As far as "take down" for cleaning, it is not that difficult unless you want to take the lever actio mechanism down to its individual parts. I would not suggest that at all. You can easily keep the action cleaned by using spray action cleaners and typical gun lubricants.

I find the rifle fairly well balanced and the action slick.
