I dont know where you are in va, but ive always had a tough time getting squirrels with a rifle until the acorns drop and you have them on the ground more and the leaves coming off. Its kind of like the old saying, you want to hunt squirrel take a rifle, want to eat squirrel take a shotgun (at least until fall).
