Turkeys like tall pines, cottonwoods etc. They will generally roost in an area they can see danger coming from or are protected in some way like roosting over a river, swamp etc. They also like to roost in gully's, 3/4 way up a hill so they can see the hill top and have easy fly up down.

Not sure what locater call you are using try a coyote call, that should work for you.
Also in Colorado turkeys are almost never in the fall location in spring, I have seen areas where they are.
I would focus at least 1 mile away from the fall location, get high and at dark am or pm call with the coyote call several times if necessary, if they are there they will answer. Matting will be where ever they are strutting.

If a turkey hangs up wait till safe then move forward 60 ft. or so then call again get aggressive, there is no sure fire recipe you will feel what you need to do by what he responds to.
