Fine No. 9, larger BB or doesn't matter as long as the weight is there. Thinking of getting 2 bags of No. 8 and 2 bags of No. 4.
It won't matter if its 9's or 2's. 25lb bag is 25lb bag. Just get 4 bags of what you can find and go from there unless you are planning on using them to reload later. Sand will be much lighter in weight than lead shot. We have used 25lb steel bench weights and they work great as well.
