Rochelle, I took a nice 5x5 last month with a .50 caliber. I was using 100 gr. of 777 2F and a 348 Aerotip Powerbelt. He was only about 80 yards out, but at a slight angle, the bullet passed through about three feet of elk and lodged against the hide on the opposite side. The bullet was an absolute perfect mushroom with full retention and in nearly perfect condition. I hit him slightly high, although when I smacked him, he side stepped twice and tipped over like a ton of bricks!!
