I have to agree. Once you have a Labrador it's hard to go to a different breed of dog. I do like black Labradors although I had a yellow Labrador once. She was the sweetest dog you ever met. Very smart, and a real Velcro dog. She stuck to you like Velcro. She loved kids, and was just the most well behaved dog I ever had. So I would take a black Labrador or a Yellow. I seriously have considered a German Short Hair Pointer. Having bad knees now, I don't walk as fast anymore and a pointing dog would allow me to grouse hunt still.

I am not trying to push a pound dog. And I understand the desire of a purebred dog. I have had pound dogs, but they were always purebreds that someone gave up. I got my Yellow Lab puppy from a pound, a English Pointer adult female that was just a great pheasant dog, and a Black Labrador Male that was just a great dog (although it hated my ex wife.. I should have kept the dog and got rid of her. At least the dog behaved and was over joyed when I would come home from work.. ).

I sure hope you can find a dog that will help fill that void in your life. From what you've told us.. your a dog man. And you need a dog to function. So keep looking.
