My son and I have been using these tubes for close to 2 1/2 years. Carrying them in our coat pockets plus I shook the crap out of a few trying to see what it would take to get BH to pass the sabot. Without getting total crazy, everything stayed where it was supposed to. The sabot does not fit tight in the tube, but tight enough to not allow the BH to pass. Like you said, we also had the problem of the sabot pushing out the powder too fast causing us to lose some on the ground. We learned to lean the weapon slightly, pinch the sabot, tip tube to muzzle to pour in powder then let loose of sabot. We like it.

I use the same system. Pinch the sabot a little and tilt the muzzle. I've used this hunting & on the range. I'm using a .50cal, I don't know if a .45 cal would be different.
