I have never tried a shot that far on a game animal. With that said the way my rifles are set up I could hit a 220 yard shot no problem with a good rest. In fact I practice out to 300 yards regularly. I have a Lyman 57 SML peep sight. It is field adjustable so when I use the range finder and get a yardage I set the sight for that yardage. The front sight I use is a Lyman 17 AML with a Lee Shavers BPCR insert, or I also have the Lee Shavers BPCR globe sight with a level. This shavers sight and or insert is used out to 1000 yards in some BPCR competitions. Most open sights cover way too much of the target to get any accuracy at all. The peep with a good globe sight and a long range insert are the way to go.
I wont take a shot past 150 yards on the first shot. But if I have an animal that for some reason has not gone down and is hit. I would take any shot offered out to 300 yards. So far all the animals I have hit with my Paper Patched bullets don't go very far. Ron
